About Sandy A.

I am a second-year Master of Public Health (MPH) student at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health, concentrating in Health Policy and Management with a certificate in Health Policy Analysis. Prior to Columbia, I graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN, Honors) and became a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of New York in August 2023. My clinical nursing education provided me with firsthand insights into patient care and healthcare delivery and my passion for addressing systemic challenges led me to pursue a masters degree in public health. Since then, I have gained diverse experiences across a variety of healthcare settings, including academic research centers, healthcare consulting firms, and national health associations. Through my part-time roles and internships, I have strengthened my skills in health policy, data analysis, and quality improvement, enabling me to seamlessly operate at the intersection of policy, research, and practice. As I approach my expected graduation in May 2025, I am actively seeking full-time opportunities, aiming to utilize my dual degrees in nursing and public health to improve patient care. Interests: community & population health, clinical research, quality improvement, infection prevention, patient safety, emergency preparedness, data analysis, & health equity.
