Background
About Sandy J.
As a tax professional with more than three decades of experience, I have a proven track record of successfully strengthening tax capabilities and minimizing risk for multinational companies across a range of industries. My areas of professional expertise include: US & Global Indirect Tax Strategies Technology Systems & Automation IPOs / M & As Risk Management & Compliance Policy & Sound Governance Practices Most recently, I established and currently lead KPMG’s Bay Area US Indirect Tax function, partnering with clients to identify opportunities to improve cash flow, streamline processes, and ensure governmental compliance. Over the past 10 years, I have advised some of the firm’s largest clients in IPO preparation and post-operations, as well as technology and tax transformations that have delivered significant bottom-line results. I also serve as the firm’s National State and Local Tax Lead for industries, and the National State and Local Tax Lead for retail/consumer goods. I regularly advise clients on automation, data analytics, policy setting, controversy, and reporting. Prior to my roles at KPMG, I served as the Senior Director of Global Indirect Tax at Best Buy Co. where I created a global tax strategy, transformed the tax technology systems and processes, and deployed a national tax-exempt program. Having grown up with four sisters, I’ve been fortunate to be surrounded and inspired by strong females throughout my life. I bring this into my professional experience by furthering opportunities for women and girls to succeed in the workplace. Outside of promoting leadership diversity at KPMG, I currently serve as a Board Member for the Girls Scouts of Northern California and am a member of the PEO Sisterhood and the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women® executive leadership team. I am also a member of the KPMG San Francisco KNOW (KPMG Network of Women) organization.
