About Sandy Patterson

As a 29 year veteran of the Federal Government, Ms. Patterson is currently the Assistant Division Chief (ADC) of the Administrative & Customer Service Division at the U.S. Census Bureau. In her role, Ms. Patterson oversees a three-branch office supporting personnel background investigations and HSPD-12 program goals for Census contractors, field representatives, and Decennial workers. As such, Ms. Patterson is responsible for the development, implementation, and operational oversight of federal personnel security programs and Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM) initiatives in support of the U.S. Census Bureau, Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA), and the Department of Commerce (DOC). Through innovation, automation, and streamlining of processes, she has enabled the Bureaus to manage the expedited on-boarding and off-boarding of employees, contractors, Schedule A employees, temporary Decennial hires, and Special Sworn Employees. In her role as the ADC, Ms. Patterson facilitates collaboration across the enterprise to ensure stakeholders and executive decision-makers in the bureau are working towards agency strategic goals and program activities are aligned with the federal policies, standards and regulations. She provides the day-to-day oversight of three Branch Chiefs and over 30 employees and 20 contractors, managing both the Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) Program and the Suitability and Security Program for the bureau. During peak Decennial Census Bureau operations, she supervises over 50 employees and over 70 contractors responsible for processing high volumes of work within extremely tight timelines.
