About Sangmin Lee
My research can be described as an extended investigation into how heterogeneous materials subjected to chemo-thermo-mechanical loading behave at multiple length scales. Using continuum mechanics based multi-scale approaches, I am conducting microscopic and macroscopic analysis of complex material systems. I am focusing on three important areas: numerical modeling for heterogeneous materials, Design and Analysis of Computer Experiments (DACE), and High Performance Computing (HPC). Since my Ph.D. study, I have developed predictive modeling tools to assess material systems involving very complicated physicochemical mechanisms and numeric: carbon fiber reinforced ceramic matrix composite materials (CMC) under extreme thermal loads, lithium-ion batteries, High Energy Ball Milled (HEBM) reactive materials.
