About Sanil Joseph

With over 20 years of experience in health management, health services research, teaching, and mentoring, I serve as a senior faculty member and part-time consultant at the Lions Aravind Institute of Community Ophthalmology, Aravind Eye Care System, India. I lead health services research initiatives, designing and executing both hospital-based and population-based research projects. My expertise includes managing multi-center clinical research projects across Australia and India. Currently, I am in the final stages of completing my PhD at the University of Melbourne, focusing on the application of artificial intelligence for eye disease screening. I am passionate about translating research findings into real-world solutions to enhance patient-centered healthcare delivery. Beyond research, I design, coordinate, and teach executive management training programs for healthcare professionals. My work spans 17 countries across Asia, Africa, and South America, where I have contributed to training, mentoring, and research initiatives. I have also led capacity-building consultancy projects for over 40 eye hospitals in India and other low- and middle-income countries. I hold an MSc in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and a Master’s in Hospital Administration from Mahatma Gandhi University, India. My core skills include research methodology, biostatistics, scientific writing, teaching, and mentoring.
