Sanjay Basu MD PhD is a physician and data scientist deploying evidence-based primary care and population health programs. A Truman Scholar and Rhodes Scholar, he received the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers, the New Innovator Award from the Director of the National Institutes of Health, and a History Maker's recognition from the NIH. He has published over 400 peer-reviewed publications in the fields of epidemiology and data science, run a machine learning for healthcare lab at Stanford, served as Director of Research at the Center for Primary Care at Harvard Medical School, and co-founded a multi-state public benefit organization Waymark that provides hundreds of thousands of patients receiving Medicaid with free social and healthcare services. He is a practicing primary care physician at San Francisco's Integrated Care Center, focusing on internal medicine and behavioral health, Hepatitis C treatment, and 'street medicine'.
