Dr. Sanjay Sonar, M.S.(General Surgery), M.B.B.S, obtained his Master’s degree from Grant Medical College, Sir J.J. Group of Hospitals, Bombay University in ’91. He has taken several advanced workshops on Laparoscopic Digestive surgery and was recently awarded fellowship of the I.A.G.E.S. Now a faculty at C.E.M.A.S.T. – a Karl Storz enterprise, Mahalaxmi, Mumbai and E.I.S.E Johnson & Johnson, Dr. Sonar currently runs his Laparoscopy and Scopy Centre (LSC) at Chembur. LSC is one of the first specialisedcentres of its kind with thelatest in the armamentarium of a laparoscopy surgeon including image 1 camera, harmonic scalpel, morselator and ligasure energy device. Dr. Sonar specializes in Basic & Advanced Laparoscopy, Bariatric Surgery, Laparoscopic Hernia repair and Endovenous Laser therapy. He is also a Consulting Surgeon at several renowned hospitals such as Godrej, L.S. Raheja, Bhatia hospital & Nova/Apollo specialty hospital. Dr. Sonar has performed a variety of complex cases like laparoscopy in trauma patients, Laparoscopic thyroid surgery as well as parathyroid surgery in addition to the routine laparoscopic surgeries. As a Director of Surgisys- an organization established at Sushrut Hospital- Dr Sonar, along with other senior doctors and surgeons, has envisioned the provision of state of the art laparoscopic and endoscopy facilities to the underprivileged sections of the society. The clinic at Sawantwadi, where Dr. Sanjay Sonar operates, takes this movement to the people in the remote corners of Maharashtra. He provides these top class services at reasonable cost even at places such as Mira road, Alibag etc. Dr. Sanjay has set up the laparoscopy and bariatric surgery department at Godrej hospital. He has conducted numerous cme s and patient awareness camps and is also on the Infection Control Committee of the hospital.
