About Sanjay Thakar

A compassionate Business Leader who believes that people empowerment is the key to achieving results. In my over 38 years experience in the automotive sector, I have employed strategic visioning, collaborative approach, with team motivation, communication, mentoring and coaching to achieve organizational goals. I have been witness to the evolution of the automotive sector in India, from its infancy in terms of technology, manufacturing concepts and processes and products. On successfully completing my lifelong career at Maruti Suzuki in November 2022, I have now moved on to role of Guiding and Helping companies and individuals. Firstly, I have taken up role of Independent consultant to guide companies in their Business Strategy and also help them in improving Manufacturing excellence in operations. Secondly, I have taken up role of a Business Mentor for early startup teams at College level and help them in their evolution towards Business environment with focus on Customer delivery and Industry connections. My leadership skills include Business Strategy, Entrepreneurship mindset, People skills and Creativity. I am strong in Domains like Product Development, Project Management, Lean Concepts, Body- in- white Toolings, Shop Floor Operations and Upgradation of vendors. My role has been to guide my Team in driving the Zero Defect Program at vendor plants. This encompasses strategic buy-in from the Vendor companies on Quality System Improvement, establishment of on site Dojo Training Centres, guidance for Tool and Plant Maintenance, skill development of the vendor work force and driving new initiatives at Vendors to achieve Maruti's Mission of getting Zero Defect parts from Vendors. In the past, I have spearheaded the setting up and roll out of the Inhouse Tool room and Die Shop for Design and Manufacture of skin panel Press Dies, Welding Jigs and Die Casting Dies. I have handled complete Project management in setting up Body Shop at Maruti including Large Pressess, Fully automated Robotic Welding Lines, Flexible Manufacturing Set ups and other specialised equipment. I was also responsible for complete Manufacturing operations of one of the largest Plant A of Maruti Suzuki, with key results including those of Safety, Quality, Productivity, Flexible lines, Lean manufacturing and simultaneous introduction of New Models on running lines. My creativity, innovative thought process and attention to detail enable me to visualise numerous better ways to execute ideas and projects to perfection. And I continue to learn.
