About Sara Ashbaker
My name is Sara Ashbaker and graduated with a degree in Recreational Therapy and Recreation Management in Spring of 2023 from Oklahoma State University. I have a wide range of experiences from teaching to mental health work. Currently, I'm employed as a Recreational Therapist at OMDHSAS. I coached high school debate for three years. I have extensive skill in working with young children with disabilities from volunteering at Coffee Creek Therapeutic Riding Center for six years. I have completed my first recreational therapy internship at Oakwood Springs Behavioral Health Hospital in 2021. I then completed my senior rotation at SSM St. Anthony's in the South, Midwest and OKC locations. My overall goal is to use my educational and practical experiences to destigmatize mental health and improve access to mental health services in the state. Whether I further my abilities in pursuing clinical psychology or in healthcare administration I will strive to promote and provide the best services possible for those in my care.
