About Sara Bolin

I am a retired army veteran on an endless pursuit of knowledge in microbiology and virology. I was trained as a veterinary technician in the army where I ran the in-house lab in our clinic along with my own anesthesia while I conducted dental cleanings on MWDs,dogs, and cats in the Stuttgart military community. After being retired in 2012, I took some time to raise my son and begin my academic career. I ended up taking a leave of absence in 2015 where I spent time working with horses and then learning as much as I could about the art and science of farriery. I apprenticed under some very skilled and knowledgeable members of the trade. While I love my work as a farrier, it’s very hard on a body and after sustaining a knee injury requiring surgery during the quarantine, I decided it was time to return to my academic dreams. I’ve done a great deal of soul searching and personal development during the past few years and was recently diagnosed with ASD, which made much of my past difficulties make so much more sense to me.
