About Sara Burris

I was born and raised in the Midwest, I come from a land of corn and Lincoln. I am a wife and mother to some amazing humans. They are the ones who I strive to do my best for every day. I have a strong love for travel and adventures with my family making as many memories as possible. I am blessed to have a job I love. I am an LDRP & level one nursey nurse. I am constantly on a mission to find ways to keep growing. I started my career in laundry at a nursing home, then became a C.N.A, obtained my Associate degree in nursing, then went on to obtain my BSN and am currently working on my MSN in leadership and management. I have also obtained national certifications in my field of nursing. This allows me to continue to provide my patients with the best care and experience during the best or worst times of their lives. It will also allow me to lead my nursing peers with wisdom and guidance. I have a passion for empowering women and advocating for our rights. I am an active member of AWHONN. I am childbirth educator, by teaching these classes for women in our area they are allowed to be active team members in their care and educated in the choices. During the COVID pandemic in 2021 my daughter and I started Montgomery Co. Period Project. By starting this program, we provided period packs to all middle school girls in our county. Our bags are also available to low-income women at various locations in the community. As a nurse, mother and wife I know how important it is to be mindful of what we need to be our best selves. This is why I have implemented a morning schedule I stick to 6 days a week. Every morning I take time to get in-tune with my mind and body by practicing yoga every morning. I then take time to reflect what I want my day to be like. By doing this I have set my expectations of what the day will hold. My goal this year is to continue working on my MSN degree, this will allow me to stay on the path of leading and the future nurses of America.
