About Sara Casaccia

I am Professor and researcher at the Department of Industrial Engineering and Mathematical Sciences (DIISM) at UNIVPM, specializing in measurement techniques, sensor technologies, and their innovative applications across multiple domains. My research focuses on enhancing quality of life, health, well-being, and comfort of people through the development of advanced sensing systems for the built environment, smart cities, and cross-sectoral applications spanning healthcare, energy, and quality assessment in industry.I hold a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Thermal and Mechanical Measurements, with a specific focus on non-contact measurement of physiological parameters. As part of my doctoral studies, I conducted research at the Department of Electrical and Systems Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis (Missouri, USA) for a period of 7 months, gaining valuable international and interdisciplinary experience.I have served as scientific coordinator for UNIVPM in the European AAL project HAAL (Healthy Ageing eco-system for people with dementia), and I am currently coordinator for UNIVPM of the PRIN 2022 project WePop, which focuses on the development of a multi-domain platform for personalized comfort, integrating environmental and physiological data to support well-being in indoor environments.I have contributed to numerous European, international, and national research projects, which have significantly expanded both my professional network and my scientific and technical skills, allowing me to work in multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with stakeholders from academia, industry, and public institutions.
