About Sara Chambers

Life has taken me from rural Manitoba to Southern Africa and back again, and the journey has been nothing short of incredible. After graduating from the faculty of Agriculture at the University of Manitoba I hopped on a plane and moved to South Africa to work in hospitality management. After three years of developing my skills in customer service I moved further north to Namibia where I managed a boutique hotel and a team of individuals whom I feel fortunate to consider family. Working in Africa taught me how to be an effective leader and support my employees to levels of personal growth they never considered possible. My proudest moments were not in raising the lodge’s Trip Advisor ranking to #1 in our area or bringing in enough revenue to begin expansion, but the times when employees told me the opportunities I gave them changed their lives. My passion for wildlife conservation was the driving force behind the development of a Lesser Bush Baby release program of which I was solely responsible for. I can happily report that there are now third generation Bush Babies hopping through the trees of South Africa because of my program. I often received other species to rehabilitate back into the wild and thus gained certification in Basic Wildlife Rehabilitation through the International Wildlife Rehabilitation Council. I will always be grateful for my experiences in Africa, but when an opportunity at Backswath Management became available my husband and I decided to move back to Canada to honor my roots and appreciation for Agriculture. At Backswath Management Inc. our expertise lies in in Advisory Boards, Benchmarking, Bookkeeping, Business Process Management, Change Management, Conflict Management, Growth Management, Health & Wellness, Human Resources, Peer Groups, and Strategic Planning. I am thrilled to be leading our Peer Group Program which provides participating producers a platform to give and receive first-hand advice and experience in farm management. Beyond Backswath's Peer Groups, my experience leading teams in remote and challenging environments has given me the know-how to assist farms with developing their Human Resource Practices as a Farm Management Consultant.
