About Sara Cornett

Sara Cornett currently works as the Practicum Administrator for the Master of Science in Public Health at McGill University, and produces short docs in her free time as an independent documentary filmmaker. After graduating with a degree in Humanistic Studies and minors in Cultural Studies and East Asian Studies from McGill University, she was offered a full-time permanent position as Administrative Coordinator at McGill University. After a couple years, Sara was ready for an adventure. Fulfilling a lifelong dream, she bought a one-way ticket to China, where she explored the country solo for six months, travelling all over the vast territory, including a visit to Tibet and surrounding islands. In Hong Kong, she enjoyed being an English tutor to young children. Her travels abroad allowed her to discover her passion for using photography, writing, and film as a means of creative expression and communication. While working part-time at the Office of the Ombudsperson for Students at McGill University, Sara went back to school to pursue further education. She studied photography, followed by graduate studies in journalism at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada where she received the Peter Mansbridge Award in Television Journalism and a research grant from the International Development Research Centre. Her latest works, “The Perfect Storm of Prostitution,” and "Brigida: Surviving the Sex Industry" are short films about the international sex trade on the island of Hispaniola in the Caribbean. Sara has the great privilege and pleasure of serving other women in her city as a Discussion Group Leader with the local chapter of BSF, a global, in-depth Bible study.
