About Sara Dewitt

What if kids’ media was not a waste of time, but an experience that helped them learn, become critical thinkers, develop life skills, and even get up and move? I am passionate about improving children’s media experiences to make this vision a reality. I studied children’s literature, but I was inspired by Fred Rogers’ work (and a well-timed graduate school class in interactive narrative and artificial intelligence) to move into kids’ media. At PBS KIDS, the #1 educational media brand for kids, we look to spark children's curiosity across free streaming video, broadcast, games, and other platforms, helping them succeed in school and life. The PBS KIDS team works with world class producers and child development experts to ensure we’re bringing the highest quality, research-backed content to as many children across the country and on as many platforms as possible, meeting them where they are anytime, anywhere. PBS KIDS sees 364 million streams and almost 80 million game plays every month across digital platforms. In my role as head of PBS KIDS, I have the opportunity to speak at a range of conferences and forums on topics such as new technology, gaming, and parenting in the digital age.
