About Sara Diels

Nice to meet you! My name is Sara Diels. I am a positive and highly motivated person with industry and academic experience. Both enabled me to gain expertise on the development and implementation of different technologies as well as pathway analysis and biological reasoning in the field of disease genetics and personalized medicine. The completion of my Doctoral dissertation on medical genetics at the University of Antwerp qualified me as a versatile and flexible employer with research experience in the -omics field (e.g. genetics, epigenetics, expression analysis). Scientific reasoning and problem solving skills were acquired and resulted in A1 publications and the presentation of my work on (inter)national conferences. After my PhD, I started as an ‘Assay Development Scientist’ within the genomics services unit of CellCarta, a global Research Organization in the biopharmaceutical industry. My current position enables me to further grow professionally by being the lead scientist in development and implementation of molecular assays across different workflows (e.g. qPCR, dPCR, NGS). Experimental design, practical preparations and execution in close collaboration with the lab and bioinformatics make it possible to be a strong, communicative team player across different fields of expertise. After 3 years, I was promoted to a senior position where I support junior positions in the company next to being the lead of molecular process task forces and managing my own projects.
