Background
About Sara Haque
Sara Haque (she/they) is a queer Muslim poet from the riverside town of Goalpara, Assam. Their work centres around queerness, faith, memory, language and geo-political marginalizations, via poetry, photography, and other artistic mediums. Sara has been a spoken word artist since 2017, a 2024 fellow of "The Queer Writers' Room" and "Language Is A Queer Thing" by The Queer Muslim Project. Two of their works were published in "Riverside Stories", a feminist anthology from Assam, by Zubaan books. Being a literature and film major, they also work with translation and film theory. They've performed at the 2024 Tata Lit Live Mumbai, and The Kolkata Literary Meet 2025 as part of TQMP's cohort. Their most recent work is a part of “On The Brink of Belief”, a first of its kind anthology featuring 24 LGBTQ writers across South Asia, edited by Kazim Ali.
