About Sara Henry

I am a 2020 Department of Homeland Security Joint Mission Fellow with the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency. I began my federal career in 2015 as a Presidential Management Fellow with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). I am currently on detail with the Department of Homeland Security National Protection and Programs Directorate's Office of Cybersecurity and Communications where I am a full-time member of the National Cyber Incident Response Plan implementation team charged with implementing PPD-41, which updates and revises our Nation's strategic framework for responding to significant cyber incidents. In May 2015, I received my Master's degree in Comparative Politics with a focus on national security policy, counterterrorism, and Middle Eastern studies from American University in Washington, D.C, graduating with a 4.0 and distinction on my comprehensive examination. I also have extensive international experience in both the Middle East and Eastern Europe. During the summer of 2014, I completed a study abroad at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel where I focused on key national security issues in the region including a nuclear Iran and the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS). I traveled throughout both Israel and the West Bank conducting social science research for a paper I authored on the affects of public opinion on counterterrorism policy in countries experiencing intractable or protracted conflicts. I also spent a semester studying abroad in Prague, Czech Republic where I traveled extensively across Central and Eastern Europe focusing on international organizations, negotiations, and treaties and published an article for the English counterpart to the Czech Republic's leading socio-political journal, The New Presence, on the European Union economic crisis.
