About Sara Herman

I have been a Charge Artist and a freelance scenic artist for over a decade years, working in and around the Twin Cities. The Children's Theatre Company, MN Opera, The Guthrie, Theatre Latté Da, Chanhassen Dinner Theatre, and Mill City Opera are just a few examples of the companies I have worked with. I also work as a scenic designer and mural artist, specifically for the past 5 years I have designed the summer show at Circus Juventas, the largest circus school in the country. I am St. Paul Academy and Summit School's resident set designer and technical director. In the spring of 2013 I was invited as a guest lecturer for a semester at the University of MN Morris. I taught 2 classes there: Stagecraft and one I created called Fabrication and Painting Techniques for Film and Theatre. I also designed the set of the spring children's show The King Stag and mentored students. In addition to teaching a full semester, I have been asked to teach several 1-2 day workshops on scenic painting techniques by Minneapolis based Technical Tools for the Trade. I am also a founding member of The Guild of Scenic Artists; an online hub for scenics to connect, converse, brush up on skills and look for work.
