About Sara James
Dr Sara James is a sociologist at La Trobe University, Melbourne. Her research focuses on social change, culture and wellbeing. Her current projects include a study of baby boomer women's financial wellbeing and a qualitative study of how shared reading groups can help increase wellbeing and social cohesion. Sara is also interested in work, meaning and self-identity. She is the author of Making a Living, Making a Life (Routledge 2017) and the editor of Metaphysical Sociology (Routledge 2018). She also undertakes research in higher education pedagogy, focusing on the first-year experience. She is the author of two textbooks: Sociology in Today's World (2014) and Key Concepts in the Humanities and Social Sciences (2018). In 2018 she was awarded the Vice Chancellor's Award for Teaching Excellence.
