About Sara Lu

Sara Lu, Associate Vice President for Real Estate, leads the development and implementation of Emory’s real estate initiatives in support of enterprise-wide strategic framework and objectives. She oversees real estate valuation, transaction structuring and negotiation, strategic acquisitions and dispositions, lease administration, third party development, and management and operation of non-academic revenue generating assets. Before joining Emory, Sara worked for Los Alamos National Laboratory as Senior Capital Project Manager, leading various design and construction efforts across 40 square miles of DOE-owned property and a portfolio containing more than 8 million square feet under roof, including the formation of Manhattan Project National Historic Park. Prior, she served as owner’s Project Manager for Genentech and U.S. General Services Administration, and as Design Manager for Eight Inc, a multi-disciplinary experience design firm. Her diverse clients include Dolby Laboratories, Apple Inc, Jawbone Inc, Bently Enterprises, and Miami Science Museum, among others. Sara is a licensed Architect with the State of California, and a LEED Accredited Professional. She holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in Architecture and Economics from the University of California—Berkeley, and a Master in Urban Planning from Harvard University. She is the Chair of Urban Land Institute University Development and Innovation Council and a member of the American Institute of Architects.
