About Sara Maughan

I am currently a 3rd year Physical Therapy student at Touro University. In May of 2022, I graduated from the College of Human Ecology at Cornell University. I was a Human Biology, Health and Society Major, and completed an Inequality Studies in Health Equity Minor, a Policy Analysis and Management Minor, and a Law and Society Minor. While I was first introduced to physical therapy through athletics, my undergraduate studies and drive to help others solidified my interest in pursuing a career in physical therapy. The health policy and equity courses I completed in my undergraduate studies exposed the difficulties of addressing both an aging population and the increased prevalence of chronic diseases as they decrease an individual’s quality of life. Throughout my career, I aim to maximize a patient’s functional ability to promote an enhanced quality of life. Being a competitive gymnast throughout my primary education and undergraduate studies taught me valuable skills such as leadership, time management, responsibility, and teamwork that I intend to apply as a healthcare professional.
