About Sara Pedro

After graduating with my BA in Communication Studies from Cal Poly, I headed up to the PNW and settled in Portland as an administrative assistant for a local housing nonprofit. My strengths lie in my ability to relate to people, maintain clear and direct communication, and utilize my creativity to explore different areas of an issue. I volunteer weekly with local free meal groups and my goal is to continue developing my grantwriting skills and someday work for a nonprofit addressing food justice. In college, I got the incredible opportunity to be an Outreach Coordinator for an org aiming to increase SNAP enrollment of eligible college students. This work helped me connect the skills I was learning in communication (public presentation, digital outreach, event planning, writing, etc) with a mission I cared about. Over 3 years, I had the honor of assisting 150+ students apply for CalFresh in one-on-one appointments. I'm certified in TIC by Trauma Informed Oregon and trained in handling confidential/sensitive information as well. At home you can find me making music or crocheting funny items for my cat.
