About Sara Saba

I am a cofounder of Bioss, the first Sardinian company involved in vermicompost production. Our vermicompost (or humus) is a completely natural, ecological, and organic fertilizer allowed in organic agricolture and regularly enrolled in the Ministry of Agriculture Food and Forestry Policies Register. Bioss comes from sharing views and skills between an agronomist me and, and represents a lifestyle, an ethical, ecological, and scientific choice. Respect for nature, waste reduction, conversion of waste into high ecological resources, study and research activities in the environmental and agricultural fields are the cornerstones. Along with production activities and the technical-scientific responsibility of Bioss, I also deal with business management, marketing and chemical analysis of our products. I also work on research and development projects in the circular economy e agro-ecology contests. Since 2006, I work at the Agricultural Department of the University of Sassari (where I have obtained my PhD in 2012) in aquaculture research and, since 2015, organic fertilizers (production and analysis). As far as my skills in aquaculture is concerned, I'm specialized in- breeding and shellfish aquaculture techniques- welfare of fish species- environmental impact of aquaculture activities- bivalve culture optimisation in coastal lagoons- chemical analysis of fish products- histological analysis on gonadal development of bivalves- artificial reproduction of bivalves- phytoplankton and zooplankton culture- physico-chemical analyses of seawater- microscopic analysis of marine phytoplankton- fish farms consulting/collaboration- project realization, business manuals and HACCP control plans for fish farms.
