I believe libraries are a place to learn, to find community, to seek sanctuary, and to find the connections that enrich our lives. I fundamentally stand against bigotry, discrimination, or hatred of any kind. I am a strong advocate for teens and their place in our communities, libraries, and wider world. I work to make sure every person of every religion/non-religious philosophy, race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, culture, ability, and native tongue feel welcomed, accepted, and assisted in our libraries. I am also a strong advocate for services for LGBTQIA+ youth and the #WeNeedDiverseBooks campaign. I believe that reading diversely and having a place to discuss social justice issues are the best tools we can give our youth for developing empathy and compassion for others, which is essential to enact change in our divided culture.
