About Sarah Bailey

I am an External Compliance Manager at AIM Assessment and Qualifications Group, previously known as Open College Network West Midlands. Compliance has played a pivotal role throughout my twenty-eight-year career, which spans multiple settings ranging from nursing, teaching, and management within FE and my current role as Compliance Manager. I am passionate about compliance and consistently achieve high standards, thus providing me with the fundamental experiences and skills needed for the role. As part of my role, I have been directly involved in assessing and reviewing malpractice and maladministration cases and implementing sanctions where appropriate. For the last eight years, I have been directly involved with training internal and external staff within FE, HE, and awarding organisations, including centres and associate staff. I am very confident in preparing and delivering training and reporting findings to audiences of various sizes (up to 100 people), including representation from Senior Leadership. My excellent technical, communication and presentation skills have been developed throughout my career in multiple settings, including teaching, where I was incredibly proud to have to lead a team within FE in achieving an Ofsted outstanding grade following deep dive within the Access to Higher Education provision. To be a strong leader, you need to have the support of your team. I have proven in all my roles within my career to have the ability to achieve from working as a nurse in an acute NHS ward setting, with very minimal staff and very high patient demands, whilst maintaining high-quality ranging to the integration of two teams from Access to Higher Education and GSCSE Biology across two sites through a merger within an FE College. Within my current role I have motivated staff to achieve their own and departmental objectives whilst achieving the organisation’s strategic objectives during a highly demanding period. I have had positive feedback throughout my career from other department managers and senior leadership, who praised my drive and approach to working together to improve the development of the business needs. My proven ability to be agile, organised and adaptive was evidenced during my first nine months in my current employment, where I covered the role and responsibilities (including management of staff) of Qualifications and Assessment Manager in addition to my position in Compliance.
