About Sarah Barton

Sarah works as Senior Projects Manager for Coplin Health Systems. She develops, writes, and manages grants while coordinating the efforts of the healthcare center and its community to decrease barriers and improve access to healthcare for patients. Through cross-sector collaborations, she has worked to improve access to health services, addressed transportation barriers in rural communities, and improved workplace health. Barton believes that collaboration is the way for West Virginia to succeed at improving health and is passionate about helping organizations work together to achieve optimal impact in the community. She values rural health and is an avid promoter of healthy habits. Barton helps promote healthy eating, movement, and behavioral health through her work with CHS. Some of her projects include a FARMACY, an adolescent RCORP grant, exercise parks, an employee wellness program, and self-monitored blood pressure programs. Sarah has extensive experience in developing, writing, and managing grant projects. She has written, received, and managed over $17 million in federal, state, and local grants throughout her career. Her hallmark signature in grant writing is developing collaborative and sustainable projects that will continue to benefit the community after funds are gone. Sarah is an experienced executive coach and employee trainer with clients from corporate businesses, institutions of higher learning, non-profit organizations, and political campaigns. She leverages her knowledge and experiences to identify and enhance the leadership foundation of her clients and the organizations she serves. Sarah has a rich background in business communication, cultural diversity, data management, data analysis, data-driven decision-making, grant writing, and grant management. She has over ten years of experience in higher education at Ohio Valley University, in advancement, fundraising, grant writing and administration, admissions, and registrar. In this work, she developed and implemented programs and procedures that increased organizational productivity, improved data structures for record-keeping and reporting; and demonstrated her ability to dynamically lead through management of various types and sizes of teams. Sarah earned her Master of Public Administration and a bachelor's degree in Child Development and Family Studies through West Virginia University. She is married to Mitch, and they have two sons and a daughter. Sarah enjoys traveling, cooking/baking, photography, memory-keeping, and reading when not working.
