About Sarah Blundell

My role is to bring our nation's heritage to life, ensuring our collections are accessible and fun for all through relevant learning programmes. Since graduating in 2012, I have been focusing my time in gaining the necessary skills and experience needed. I have been part of the Canal and River Trust's Explorer's Education Team at the National Waterways Museum (NWM) in Ellesmere Port since 2012, and became lead volunteer in November 2014. In 2017 I joined the George's Journey Project team at the NWM, and been volunteering at the Grosvenor Museum in Chester, assisting museum staff with family activities. In the summer of 2015, I completed a postgraduate diploma in Museum and Heritage Management from Nottingham Trent University. While completing this course I gained further knowledge and understanding of the sector, and obtained the necessary skills and experience that would assist me in me in my future job roles. I achieved a commendation After spending my work based placement at Tatton Park, I joined the Learning & Visitor Services team as an Interpreter Guide in August 2015. I rejoined the team in 2017 for 8 months. In 2016 I was employed by the Canal & River Trust to take up the role of Education Coordinator South. I was covering for ill health, and my six-month contract was extended for a year. I have recently completed my six-month contract, covering maternity leave for the Education Coordinator Museums at the National Waterways Museum in Ellesmere Port and Gloucester. I am currently working at the Walker Art Gallery as an Education Demonstrator. I regularly deliver fun play and learn sessions for EYFS, school sessions, informal family activities, and help assist with adult talks and events.
