About Sarah Budden

With seven years of industry experience, I began in high-end residential interiors before expanding into commercial design. For the past three years, I’ve specialised in brand-driven retail and workplace environments across New Zealand and Australia. I take a bold, experiential approach to interiors—blending luxury with a strong sense of environmental responsibility. My work translates brand identity into the built environment through spatial planning, material selection, and strong technical documentation. Currently working toward Green Star certification, I focus on low-carbon design, circular economy principles, and adaptive reuse—moving beyond greenwashing and box-ticking to create truly sustainable spaces. My Master’s research explored the conflict between common sustainable design strategies and short-lifecycle boutique interiors, developing a concept for a living, morphing interior skin that reduces the need for full refits. Whether curating personalised residential experiences or designing for brand impact, I believe our daily rituals and cultural values should shape the contemporary spaces we inhabit. I don’t just make things look good—I make them work smarter, cleaner, and more responsibly.
