About Sarah Carson

I am a Registered Nurse in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Townsville University Hospital, with experience in both adult and paediatric critical care. I completed my final year of nursing study and graduated with distinction in my Bachelor of Nursing Science (BScN) at James Cook University in December 2020. I am extremely passionate in the field of critical care and paediatric medicine, and hope to specialise through the completion of post-graduate studies in these areas in the future. Over the Summer period of 2019-2020, I had the opportunity to travel abroad to Jönköping University in Sweden to complete an academic unit about Health and Ill-Health in Children. Following this additional study, I was employed as a Student in Nursing (SIN) on the Children's Ward at the Townsville University Hospital throughout the duration of my final year of nursing study. Throughout my degree, I gained experience through Professional Experience Placements working in a mixed medical/surgical orthopaedic ward at the Mackay Base Hospital, surgical orthopaedic and opthemology unit in the Townsville University Hospital, Community Health services through the Townsville Hospital Health Service, Charters Towers Hospital, and the Intensive Care Unit at TUH. I am extremely passionate about helping people in need, and emphasise my work through therapeutic communication to assist patients and their families through tough situations.
