About Sarah Covert
After 30 years working in higher education—including 13 years as an academic leader—I understand the incredible rewards and unique challenges that define academic careers. I’ve experienced firsthand the many stages of an academic career: navigating federally-funded research and classroom instruction as a tenured faculty member, serving as an associate dean and associate provost, and retiring from the academy. As my career progressed, I discovered that creating and delivering professional development programs for other faculty was my most fulfilling responsibility. I loved seeing colleagues realize their potential and helping them navigate their career transitions with improved success. My enthusiasm for supporting fellow academics led me to pursue formal coach training, earning a Graduate Certificate in Organization Coaching from the University of Georgia, as well as certification in Motivational Interviewing from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. My deep academic experience combined with my evidence-based coaching expertise allows me to offer unique guidance to the higher education community. Now, through New ACT Coaching, I help academics carry out their work life with improved efficacy. I provide customized support tailored to your unique situation whether you're stepping into a new leadership role and want to maximize your effectiveness, or you're considering retirement and wondering how to take that step with clarity and confidence.
