About Sarah Dunnet

Though I am a trained high school physical education and french teacher, my background extends beyond the classroom. My experience ranges from event planning, volunteer coordination, customer service, data analysis, sport and recreation management, coaching and more. I have gained valuable experience in many industries and internationally as well. I became a teacher because one of my passions is making a positive impact on youth while mentoring them to develop the skills they need to thrive in society. Through my short time teaching, I developed an strong interest in youth leadership and mental health. I am a firm believer that students can learn many useful skills in the outdoors and through travel, if not more than when they are confined to a classroom. Though I left teaching shortly after starting my career, I knew I wanted to make a difference in the lives of students and the education system in a different way which led me to the tech sector, work integrated learning, and post-secondary education. I am the type of person that will always be looking to go above and beyond my role, constantly seeking opportunities to learn both personally and professionally while reflecting as I go. I am energized by working collaboratively with others, feeling valued in a company and feeling like I am making a difference. I am known as being someone who is not afraid to ask the difficult questions, to challenge my colleagues for the betterment of the team and the community in which we serve. I am always seeking opportunities to work more efficiently and effectively within my team and with collaborators and partners. I thrive off strong communication and pride myself on being a strong team member and leader. When I am not working, volunteering or taking part in growth opportunities, I am out in the mountains, spending time with family and friends, or traveling the world. Because of my interest in travel I have sought opportunities that would combine both my professional life and travel - taking me to France to finish my French minor during university and to Australia to teach at an AEFE school. I am always looking for new opportunities that align with my values, approach to work, and to work alongside like minded individuals. I believe I have a strong skill set that can be utilized in any role where it may be of value. I love meeting new people and learning about their paths. You learn so much by going for coffee!
