About Sarah E. Toro

People & culture are my jam. I came up through the retail industry, grinding in the field and managing a great team of 120+ employees for over 15 years, eventually making the leap into the world of corporate HR as an Employee Relations Manager for Southern Self Storage. The transition has been fantastic. The culture at Southern is unmatched. When I interviewed, I remember thinking the pitch on how "amazing our work life balance is" and "team culture is everything here” and "use PTO whenever you need it, we don't babysit you" approach was a little exaggerated. That somewhere in the middle was the truth about their culture. But I was wrong. It was 100% accurate on how our owners have built the Southern culture. No better place to be! So, what drives me? Making employees successful, and that starts with adding the right people onto our team. Southern is growing and we are looking to add more talent. I am thrilled to be a part of the hunt for the next great hire. I love partnering with our company's leadership to establish and continuously improve an awesome culture and employee experience. Everyone is important. Everyone is valued. Everyone adds to our success. From our team in the field, on the front lines getting it done, making us all look good, they are the true representatives of our brand. To our corporate office team, offering as much guidance as we can to aid in their success, supporting their educational goals, and cultivating values of trust, empathy, and hustle. I want people to be their best! My journey from retail management to Generalist to Employee Relations Manager and earning my PHR certification has allowed me to thrive in an environment that is results driven, where employee success, achievement, collaboration, and agility are highly valued. I can't wait to see what comes my way next, I'm ready.
