About Sarah Hoffman

Helping people has always been the thread that ties my career together. I still remember sitting in my mom’s classroom as a kid—eating popcorn, sipping Dr. Pepper, and grading papers while she wrapped up meetings after school. That early exposure to education and service shaped my path, and decades later, I’ve gone from grading papers to grading AI—work that no doubt is helping to shape our future. The joy of helping others continues to guide me—whether I’m supporting learners, analyzing content, or refining AI systems to better serve human needs. Currently, I work as a Trainer at Turing, where I review and annotate video captions to ensure accuracy, clarity, and compliance with content guidelines. I identify inconsistencies, offer detailed feedback, and collaborate with teams to maintain high-quality standards. This role blends my love of language, detail, and tech-enabled accessibility. Previously, I worked as a Quality Rater at TELUS, evaluating web content to support ethical, inclusive AI. I also taught English as a Second Language online, where I developed curriculum and created engaging learning materials in addition to providing instruction. I helped students from diverse cultural backgrounds grow in skill and confidence through kind, culturally sensitive teaching. Before moving into remote work, I taught middle school history in a large urban district, designing inclusive classrooms where students felt seen, safe, and capable. That followed my earlier career in law enforcement, which instilled in me the importance of integrity, empathy, and presence. Now, I split my time between meaningful remote work and life aboard a sailboat, exploring the world with my wife. I may not always know what “next” looks like—but I’ll meet it with curiosity, heart, and a helpful hand.
