About Sarah Jocelyn

I am a 24-year-old Judges’ Clerk with the Auckland High Court. I hold an LLM from the University of Otago on the topic of “Potential Consequences of a Transition from Constitutional Monarchy to Republic”.I have a wide range of leadership experience, including roles as Welfare & Education Representative (2021) and Vice-President (2022) for the Society of Otago University Law Students; tutoring roles for Legal Writing and Criminal Law; and a volunteer role as an advocate at Puketai Care and Protection, an Oranga Tamariki Facility. I also spent a decade as a teacher at the Dunedin School of Ballet and Dance, which is particularly close to my heart. I now volunteer with Pillars Ka Pou Whakahou as a Mentor.I have been lucky to publish legal articles and online pieces in New Zealand, Australia, the UK, and the US with Professor Andrew Geddis, and am particularly interested in the New Zealand Bill of Rights Act, constitutional law, youth justice, and the criminal law more generally.
