About Sarah Leiterman

In 2013 I graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Packaging. I found a passion for the healthcare industry during my co-op at Johnson & Johnson and accepted a position there after graduation. I worked in J&J's Consumer Healthcare division (McNeil) for 5 years. My first 2 years were spent in the world of *Consent Decree where I supported full remediation of packaging related SOP's, test methods, and specifications/drawings. I transitioned into a packaging engineer role at Perrigo where I will continue to build on my experience in OTC as well as expand into packaging types for the greater self-care category. Following my technical operations position I transitioned into my current role in the global package development group where I am responsible for the package development for self care innovations and new products. These projects have required learning regional and global packaging requirements and collaborating with colleagues all over the world. Throughout the past 5 years I have become an expert in blister and bottle packaging for solid oral dose products, including package development and testing, child resistance analysis, and leading line trials on the manufacturing equipment. I have also been highly involved in the student co-op program; I lead co-op recruiting efforts for my team and manage the students while they are here to give them the full-time job experience.*A consent decree is a legal agreement that is reached between a company and the government (in this case, FDA). It is a negotiated agreement detailing the voluntary actions pledged by the affected company to remedy nonconformances, including systems improvements, and to avoid FDA litigation
