About Sarah MacPherson

Hi! I am a hardworking student dedicated to my studies, my research in women’s health, and being a leader in the Victoria College community. I was an enthusiastic participant in the Dean’s Advisory committee during the pandemic to advocate for sustainability, equity, and mental health at Vic, and it encouraged me to become more involved in clubs after the pandemic. In 2022 and 2023, I spearheaded many initiatives through my club VOICES, to provide community care, peer support, and advocacy for survivors of sexual violence, and to provide safe spaces for marginalized students and all students at Vic. These include leading students from Old Vic to the “Too Little Too Late” PEARS Protest, a safe-partying workshop with PPT, a self-defense workshop, a bystander intervention workshop, and many other events! Through getting to know members of the Vic and U of T community, I have provided informal and formal mentorship to many younger students on how to navigate University. As a club head, I have learned to network with and support other Vic clubs. Community-building is central to my mission as VOICES President and I am proud to be an active member of the Vic community. I also recently participated in Vic’s annual Research Day, and received the Principal’s Science Award for my research poster,"No Ovaries? More Sleep Medication". Currently applying to Canadian medical schools for the 2024-2025 admissions cycle.
