About Sarah Minkoff
I am passionate about promoting understanding, acceptance, and respect between people of all races, Socio-economic status, religions, genders etc. My time teaching in China has shown me how lucky America is to be so diverse and I want to help the children of this country see that. I hope to develop a program that teaches children how to communicate about difficult topics respectfully and openly. In addition, I hope my work will contribute to raising the achievement gap in urban public schools and decreasing the amount of systemic racism present in this country. I have spent a lot of time studying and researching the effects of racial and cultural differences, socioeconomic status, and family life on a student's academic achievement and I hope to combine that knowledge with my exploration into other cultures. This combination, I help will help me understand my own prejudice and privilege so that I may lead others.
