About Sarah Pfeiffer

Hello! I’m Sarah, a Federal Project Manager with the National Energy Technology Laboratory within the Department of Energy. My educational background is in Chemical Engineering, with a Master’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University. I’m passionate about R&D of new energy generation technologies. Through my educational and professional experience, I’ve realized that I’m not meant for a laboratory setting; I much prefer being research-adjacent. My current position is a great fit for me because I get to have substantial involvement in cutting-edge energy research projects without being cooped up in a lab or running models all day. I love collaborating with researchers at universities and in industry to turn federal funding into commercial technologies that benefit everyone. My expertise spans the entire project lifecycle, from initial funding opportunity planning, through risk assessment and negotiation, to execution, oversight, and evaluation. With a Type A personality, I thrive on organization, efficiency, and deadlines. I am detail-oriented and have a color-coded spreadsheet for everything. I once had a friend casually mention wanting to go to Las Vegas, and a few days later I gave him a full itinerary, budget, and PowerPoint presentation for a weeklong trip that included a visit to the Grand Canyon. Outside of the office, I like to go to concerts, travel, and scrapbook my memories. I’m always happy to talk about music or my cat. Let’s connect!
