About Sarah Powell

I am a motivated GIS Technician with a passion for maps and cartography. I have over three years of experience with GIS software, including two plus years of experience with ESRI and Adobe software, and am seeking new opportunities. I earned BA in Geography and a minor in Geospatial Analysis from Humboldt State University. Seeking new opportunities on the West Coast. I made a series of maps comparing race and income levels to historically redlined neighborhoods using Adobe Illustrator and the Arc GIS maps extension. I partnered with Cooperation Humboldt, a non-profit organization, to create a map of food banks, public pantries and gardens, as well as fruit trees around Eureka, CA. Using ArcGIS online I entered location data and created an easy to use story map for those who need it. I obtained satellite imagery of Lake Almanor from various years and digitized the water line. Using the field calculator, I found the area of surface water and was able to compare the water level for the specified years.
