About Sarah Richards

My debut novel CHINA WHITE (Audible, 2021), a finalist in the 2018 HarperCollins/UBC Best New Fiction Prize, was turned into the first book of an audio crime thriller series; the sequel BORN WINNERS (Audible, 2023) followed. I've since published two standalone thrillers: THE WORST OF YOU (2024) and SMASH HIT (2025). My audio productions have been translated into French and read by the delightful narrators Juliette Gosselin, Karen Cliche, Sarah Desjardins, and Sarah Gadon. Prior to grad school, I worked as a travel guidebook writer, covering Canada, England, Scotland, China, Tibet, Japan, and Hong Kong for such publications as Lonely Planet, Fodor’s, and Rough Guides. I also composed memoir-style travel pieces for BBC.com, Lonely Planet Magazine, Canoe, Houston Chronicle, Oakland Tribune, and Fairmont.com. Before starting my current teaching career in Vancouver, I lived abroad in Osaka, Tokyo, London, and New York City, gaining experience through gigs as a proofreader, editor, creative writing mentor, manuscript evaluator, and copywriter. During my time as a grad student at UBC (MFA, 2017), I also sat on the editorial board for prism international, the university's literary magazine.
