About Sarah Ryan

A Senior Health Promotion Officer leading the Healthy Ageing portfolio at South Western Sydney Local Health District. Previously worked as a Senior Project Manager with the Evidence-based Healthy Activity and Nutrition for Children and Environments (ENHANCE) research group at University of Wollongong, managing research initiatives funded by NSW Ministry of Health.Currently completing my PhD research (submitting August 2025), focused on developing social marketing approaches to promote physical activity in Pacific Island communities. This work involves partnerships with the World Health Organization and Pacific region government ministries, and has included conducting health surveys across Fiji.I also volunteer on the board of the International Society for Physical Activity and Health (ISPAH) as Communications Committee Lead. Coordinating communications activities and supporting the organisation's global health promotion efforts.My experience spans program implementation across different settings and age groups, from early childhood through to healthy ageing initiatives. I enjoy working with diverse stakeholders, from local NSW Health teams to international partners, and am particularly interested in translating research evidence into practical health promotion programs that make a real difference in communities.With a background in nutrition science and growing expertise in public health research, I'm passionate about creating sustainable approaches to improving health outcomes across the lifespan.
