About Sarah Schelde

When I was little, I was introduced to history first by my father, igniting a lifelong passion. As I grew up, I loved reading and studying history in school, but it really came alive for me in museums and historical locations. I grew more and more interested in being part of these institutions that bring history to life, and in my teens learned about archives. When I entered undergrad at the University of Pennsylvania, I already knew I wanted to study American History, with an ultimate goal of becoming an archivist. For graduate school, I attended Simmons, where I undertook a dual degree program in Archives (MLIS) and History (MA). Soon after graduating from Simmons in 2017, I began working as a temporary Processing Assistant at the Mary Baker Eddy Library. There I was supported and mentored in archives work and American religious history, and I was given numerous growth opportunities and professional development. In 2022, I earned my current title of Archivist. Every day I get to work with original archival material and make it more available and accessible for patrons. I am in short living my childhood dreams.
