About Sarah Spalding

Hi there! I have a big passion for design and people. I believe that places and spaces have a responsibility to those that interact with it. Through my experience with research in previous roles, I’ve learned the power it can have on the design process. Topics have included affordable housing in an urban fabric, GIS, AI and sustainable strategies that range from product scale to infrastructure. I’ve also taken a personal interest in architectural design for veterans. Through considering a specific population, researching specific needs and triggers it creates a road map for design. Ultimately leading to a facilitation of community and contributing to healing. Along with schooling I also interned part time at Sekou Cooke Studio. My time was spent working on early design concepts, research and client meetings. I recently graduated in May, 2024 and received the AIA Henry Adams Medal and Excellence in Urbanism for my final capstone project challenging conventional veteran centers. The aim is to reimagine how we celebrate veterans, centering it on the individual and addressing their needs above all else.
