About Sarah Sutter

I'm a seasoned High School Design Technology and Innovation teacher, specializing in both Design Tech and Visual Arts with over 30 years of experience in US curriculum and standards. Before transitioning to teaching overseas in 2011, I spent 6+ years teaching at the University level as an adjunct lecturer in digital multimedia and lens based art. Most recently I've enjoyed developing courses in Design & Fabrication, Physical Computing and Robotics, and a core computer principles course designed to engage todays learners with current computing concepts and ethical aspects of technology. In the Visual Arts arena my passion is lens based media, and I love ceramics to keep things messy and grounded. Over the years I've taught the full range of visual media, so I am happy to match my skills with the needs of the student body and art program in any given year. My passion lies in working with students in a progressive, constructivist, project-based, standards-based, deep learning environment that emphasizes student agency, relevance, creativity, real-world problem-solving, and mindfulness. I'm all about form as well as function, aesthetics, and craftsmanship - it's not just about getting the job done, it's about doing it with style! I believe that when it comes to education, one size does not fit all. That's why I'm always on the lookout for ways to help my students thrive in an environment that is tailored to their unique needs and interests. Whether it's through collaborating on interdisciplinary projects or providing opportunities for self-directed learning, I'm all about empowering my students to take control of their own education.
