About Sarah Vray

I am a biologist with strong interests in conservation biology, biodiversity monitoring, landscape ecology, and ethology. My Master thesis was on the influence of personality on social strategy in the Barn Swallow (Hirundo rustica). My PhD thesis focused on the impact of climate change, changes in landscape structure and land use changes on bumblebee (Bombus) populations for a century in Belgium. I am currently involved in several projects linked to biodiversity monitoring in Luxembourg, including the wild pollinator monitoring scheme. Main skills: › Field inventories and biodiversity monitoring (pollinators including bumblebees and butterflies, reptiles, amphibians, small mammals, plants.) › Data collection and management of biogeographic databases (Access, SQL) › Use of Geographic Information Systems (ArcGIS, QGIS) › Statistical analyses (R software) › Publication of scientific articles in English in peer-reviewed international journals › Written communications (posters) and oral presentations, in French and in English, at conferences and scientific meetings › Assistance in the creation, management and coordination of national research projects (e.g. BELBEES in Belgium, MONIPOL in Luxembourg) › Scientific popularisation and citizen-sciences: communication through social networks, organization of events for the public, interventions in the media, trainings on species identification for volunteers.
