About Sarah Walters

Education is almost a family business. I spent my childhood running through high school hallways at basketball games. I adored those hallowed halls and have always wanted to be a teacher. For six wonderful years, I taught in Kansas City, Missouri at Center High School. I finished my master's degree and certification in Gifted Education and eventually took over the Gifted program at Center. Soon, I decided to develop my leadership skills by beginning my doctoral program at the University of Missouri. Meanwhile, I earned my second Master's degree in PK-12 Educational Leadership and Administration, with Elementary and Secondary Principal Certification after having interned with wonderful leaders at Hickman High and Grant Elementary in Columbia Public Schools. For four years, I had the privilege of teaching undergraduate teacher candidates in Inquiry into Schools, Communities and Society II. I have also been able to contribute to research and scholarly projects as a doctoral student. I research policies and practices that create more equitable and integrative schools. As I work toward completing my Doctorate in Philosophy from the University of Missouri's Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis, I am excited to continue teaching, learning, and leading in education in my new role as Career Services Coordinator in the College of Education and Human Development with the Office of Clinical Experiences and Partnerships.
