About Sarah Wolf

I'm Sarah, a microbiologist with a passion for exploring the intricacies of our planet's ecosystems and a dedication to conservation efforts. With a background in both marine microbiology and political science, I'm committed to understanding and preserving diverse ecosystems for future generations.Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of conducting research on the role of microbes in various ecosystems. My most recent work focuses on the impact of global ocean deoxygenation on bacterial physiology and carbon cycling. Beyond my research endeavors, I'm also an avid science communicator and content creator. Through my Instagram platform (@scientist.sarahwolf), I share engaging content covering science topics, insights into my PhD journey as a first-generation college student, and glimpses into life both in and out of the lab. I'm currently serving as the Estuary Aquaculture Marine Debris Policy & Practices Fellow for the Surfrider Foundation (Oregon) where I support Surfrider's plastic reduction and ocean protection initiatives by innovating solutions for reducing marine debris associated with Oregon's oyster farm industry.
