About Sari Ahonen

Throughout my career I’ve been privileged to witness the evolution of European payment systems. I have also been actively involved in the implementation of SEPA services, both from a business perspective and in terms of technical development. My career journey has taken me from business roles to technology, agile development, people coaching, and finally leading to my current position as a System Product Owner (SPO) concentrating on developing SPO’s skills and competencies, learning offerings and role. While I find system development, production stability monitoring, and service management highly interesting, I derive greater satisfaction from working with people, especially developing their capabilities. Managing critical systems is demanding and requires significant dedication, therefore every SPO should have the competence and motivation to do whatever is necessary. Networking with colleagues in neighboring roles is essential in achieving success. I continue working with a team of highly skilled experts, and I relish the opportunity to learn from them and share my experiences. Working with my colleagues is not only professionally rewarding but also enjoyable. I believe it is essential to have fun and enjoy your work while striving for excellence. With a robust background in banking, experience in agile team culture, and with pedagogical studies at university, I am confident in my potential to contribute significantly to the task at hand. I am committed to continuously learning about the future of banking, including Cloud and AI, and to working hard to help my SPO colleagues achieve their professional dreams and reach their full potential. I eagerly anticipate the exciting journey ahead as SPO myself, with a new learning curve to come.
