Background
About Sascha Bargmann
I am interested in formal analyses of English VP-idioms. One of the major challenges in analyzing VP-idioms is that the vast majority of them do not require their parts to be adjacent for the idiomatic meaning to come about. If it is not adjacency that connects the parts of these idioms, there must be another mechanism by which they are linked. The aim of my dissertation is to formulate an analysis in Head-Driven Phrase Structure Grammar (HPSG).
